ONE THING!
Paul said….”This ONE THING I do!”
To be honest, I don’t know of many leaders who can say this! But I can name a HANDFUL of leaders who have narrowed it down and are known for their “ONE THING”.
God had to trim the fat in my life, cut me down, trim me down to size and narrow my focus. After thirty plus years in ministry, I am finally down to “ONE THING”.
Have you identified your “ONE THING”? Have you narrowed it all down? Can you cut through the chase and come up with “ONE THING”?
Here are some ways to help you identify your own “ONE THING”.
1. Get in God’s Presence.
You don’t get leadership from Amazon’s KINDLE store! – You get leadership from the Holy Spirit. As many as are led……
2. Don’t be motivated by potential, be motivated by God’s Spirit!
What is the Holy Spirit telling you to do? What is HIS PURPOSE through you? Jesus must needs go through Samaria. It was a SPIRIT-led journey! Most leaders can multi-task like nobody’s business, but what is the Spirit of God leading you to become, to be?
If you are led by potential, you will die early. Be motivated by God’s Spirit and LIVE!
3. Don’t compare.
A lot of people can do what I do better than I can do it, but none of them are me!!!! I have my own God-given DNA and there is only one of me with my particular print. I am not a photocopy and I am not you. I am me. I love the skin I’m in! I’m uniquely made. God wants to use ME…not my idea of YOU in me…but ME!!!! Again, Paul says…when we compare ourselves among ourselves, we are unwise!
4. Identify Passion.
What is it that stirs me to action? What do I migrate toward? What touches my heart? What do I think about? Who do I want to hang out with? What are the subjects I like to read about? Think about? Pour over?
5. Eliminate or DELEGATE those things that are not your passion!
Trim the fat. Cut out the things you are doing to just impress others, or even the things you are going that are going to just minister to needs. The Kingdom of God is not about needs – it’s about the King’s good pleasure!!!! What is our KING telling you to do? All other things have to be adjusted!
